How to remove background on iOS and iPadOS 16:WWDC was packed this year. We’ve got a preview of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and watchOS 9 – all of which offer a lot of key features in the respective operating systems. Perhaps one of the most notable additions is the ability to lift subjects in photos and videos by removing the background – even when not captured in portrait mode. This process does not require 3D mapping through a compatible camera system. It just works. And as you’d expect from Apple, the feature works completely offline — thanks to on-device processing and machine learning. It’s surprisingly very accurate when it comes to smoothing the edges of subjects. It really blows my mind every time I use it. The most amazing thing is that it works instantly without any prior indexing required. If you haven’t followed Keynote, the learning curve here is pretty short, so we’ll list the steps required. Here’s how to upload themes and remove backgrounds on iOS and iPadOS 16.
How to remove background on iOS and iPadOS 16
Make sure your iDevice is running iOS or iPadOS 16 and has A12 Bionic chip or faster processor.
Launch the Photos app.
Touch and hold a subject in the photo or video of your choice.
Subject can be a person or a pet, any group of two people in any group, or even parts of it
This new tool is really a great addition to the iPhone and iPad. Many would consider this a small change. However, those who have relied on third-party software to take apart themes and change their backgrounds will appreciate how easy the Apple app is. It’s also worth noting that this works in Quick Look, Safari, and other apps.
