IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24-25. This is the second consecutive year that the IPL auction will be held abroad. This auction was held in Dubai last year. All 10 IPL franchise teams and their fans are eagerly waiting for this mega auction.
How many players will be bid on?
This time a total of 577 players will be auctioned in the IPL mega auction. Out of these, 367 are Indian players and 210 are foreign players, including players from 4 associate countries. The names of the players from these associate countries are Unmukt Chand, Ali Khan, Saurabh Netravalkar and Brandon McMullen. A total of 204 players can be bought, including 70 foreign players. All the teams have a total budget of Rs 641 crore in their purse.
Where and when to watch the IPL mega auction?
This auction will start at 3.30 pm Indian time. The mega auction will be broadcasted live on the Star Sports network, while live streaming will be available for free on the Jio Cinema app and website.
Who will be the bidders in the auction?
Mallika Sagar, who was also the auctioneer in the recent IPL auction, will bid on the players in this mega auction. Mallika is a renowned art expert and has conducted many art auctions. In the first ten years of the Indian Premier League, the role of auctioneer was played by Richard Madley and later Hugh Edmunds.
Base price and big names
The base price of 82 players in the mega auction is Rs 2 crore. The base price of 27 players has been kept at Rs 1.5 crore. Apart from this, players with base prices of Rs 1 crore, Rs 75 lakh, Rs 50 lakh, Rs 40 lakh and Rs 30 lakh are also included in the auction. This time big names like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are entering the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Foreign stars like Jos Buttler, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, David Warner and Trent Boult also have a base price of Rs 2 crore.
How many players can each team have?
Each team can have a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players after the auction. Apart from this, there cannot be more than 8 foreign players in the team.
Which team has the biggest purse?
Punjab Kings got the highest amount of Rs 110.5 crore in this auction. Punjab retained only two players (Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh). Royal Challengers Bangalore has a portfolio of Rs 83 crore, which is the second largest. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will have a purse of Rs 41 crore, which is the lowest.
