The World’s First Baseball Classic takes place six years earlier in Taichung, Taiwan as Cuba and the Netherlands play baseball competition around the world.
Padres star Xander Boagerts leads the team for the Netherlands, while White Sox outfielder Louis Roberts and former big leaguer Yoenis Céspedes pitch for the Cuban team. Group A has two teams each from Chinese Taipei, Panama and Italy. The top two teams from Group A play the teams from Group B in the quarter-finals.
Cuba vs. Netherlands is set to be the first game of the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Six years later, baseball is back on the world stage and it begins with the Cuban national team’s tie with the Netherlands.
The match begins at 7PM EST and will be live on FS1. FOX is airing the World Baseball Classic, so they’ll start with the Cuba-Netherlands game.
